Day 1 - Passion Sunday

I woke up at 4:30, still wrecked from yesterday's marathon work session. Tidied up my office (my bedside) and about 1 1/2 hours later, I crawled back into bed and went to sleep. Lova! Smelled coffee about 9am. Spent the morning chatting with H (husband) and T (child #2) and building a Lego bunny while the teenager slept.

Veggie scrambled eggs and toast for brunch, then it was time to get ready for the day. Today is the first day of my 100 day challenge. (Check out journal.wooland.com for details.) Eyes rolled when I told my family about it, and my friend snickered, but I'm happy to be doing it. I tried on the dress and it was snugger than I usually wear clothes, but maybe it'll stretch or I will shrink!

The view out the window from our snug cabin in the woods was of a bright sunshiny day, so we all decided to go out skiing. We went to Waskey Mountain trail, and as soon as we were out in the open, the wind blew us away. It was 15° and frigid. The flats were all ice, so I ended up skiing in the rutted snowmachine trail. There was a lot of groaning and gnashing of teeth (mostly from me), so H decided we'd ski in the woods. That was an adventure!

Late in the afternoon I had a conference call with my family Outside. It was decided to use Zoom, which worked for everyone else, but I ended up listening to the conversation via my sister's phone. (She called me, then put her phone an speaker next to her computer.) I felt like I was eavesdropping. Kind of a disappointment as I was looking forward to our visit.

As I am craft-challenged, a coworker made us each a face mask. Hopefully we won't have to use them too much! I walked down to the local store to meet her and collect them. It was still cold and windy out. The road is pothole heaven, but thankfully all the ice is gone, and it was cold enough that the dirt/gravel was frozen.

H fried chicken and I made a salad for dinner. Delicious! I finished up the Lego bunny while enjoying a cup of black tea (Irish style with milk & sugar).

The others are watching tv, but I am ready to snuggle up with my book, P.G. Wodehouse's The Code of the Woosters. I love his writing, it's so amusingly funny.  And I can't forget the missal readings for the day! In our remote community we usually have Mass twice a month, but as in the rest of the U.S., the bishop has suspended all public Masses. Unfortunately it's really easy to forget that Sundays are special when the bedrock of a Mass is missing.

One thing I need to work on is drinking more water. My water bottles have barely been touched and I usually drink quite a bit of water at work. All I drank today was coffee and tea.
