Spring has sprung!

Exhausting day, but I feel great! And tired!

Day 29 of the 100 Day challenge
I've been wearing the dress for 4 weeks!!!

As soon as I woke up I put the dog out, made myself a cup of tea, and started making a list. Almost five months into the new year and I still have some of the same to-do items on my list. Just do it, Joannie! Remember, what's worth doing is worth doing badly.

H got up about a half hour after me and made a pot of coffee, fried some bacon, and made waffles. The smell helped me drag my carcass out of bed.

Gorgeous sunny spring day, but I started working on an indoor project. H wants to turn a little room into a Virus isolation bedchamber. It was M's bedroom until last September, when he moved into the room formerly known as O's. Since then we've used it as a box room (finally! some storage space!). So today was a day of moving stuff from one place to another. I'd planned to cull, but that didn't happen. (Nowhere to bring the stuff because everything's closed due to The Virus. Except the landfill.)

I went out to the car to grab a cardboard box, and noticed that some of the cardboard was wet. I've been meaning to drop it off at the house of some folks who have a wood burning furnace, but haven't had a chance. The rug? upholstery? in the back of the car was all wet, who knows from what. Anyway, I pulled out all the cardboard out of the back of the car, put it up on the roof, and left the doors open so the car could dry out. Then I marched back into the house with a couple of boxes.

It wasn't cleaning so much as moving stuff. All the papers went to one spot, bins of gifts, photos and clothes to another, and toys, Christmas and other holiday stuff to the attic. T hauled the boxes to the attic, which was a huge help.

I also moved a bunch of books and stuff I dragged home from work and promptly put in the box room to be dealt with later. Out of sight, out of mind. I moved them to the living room so I'll be forced to deal with them.

C called about 2pm and suggested we go for a longer walk than usual, this time along the bike path. So we did. (Sans dogs.)

 Lake Road bike path

We walked just over two miles, but it seemed like a trek. Maybe because I'd been hauling bins up and down stairs? Or because we were walking on blacktop instead of gravel? We encountered some other folks enjoying a walk on this gorgeous day. And noticed a police car driving past us at least a half dozen times. Checking that we're maintaining social distance?

unexpected delight

C had seen a cargo plane earlier in the day and wanted to see if the store had restocked the shelves, so we stopped in and checked it out. (They hadn't.) There's a new sign up since Thursday.

H and M spent the day outside doing who knows what. When I returned from the walk, I saw the cars' hoods up and the 3-wheeler open. M loves the vehicles, and keeps H on his toes.

 keeping busy

Unbelievable how much the snow has melted over the past week! It's uncovering all sorts of stuff. Soon we'll be out there cleaning up from winter. As soon as the ground dries out.

The snow is rapidly disappearing!

After T had taken the dogs on the long loop walk, he was sitting outside and enjoying the day.  I joined him on the front porch and relaxed for a while. Wish I had a stool to put my feet up! It was 4 o'clock by the time I got home from the walk, too late for lunch, so T and I had egg salad crackers. The screen was on the storm door, and we could join in the telephone conversation H was having with O.

relaxing on the front porch

Although I was by this time tired and stiff, I had a few things left to finish in the box room. Then it was time to clean off my bed and change the sheets. Seems like it was go go go all day.

One of the pillows needed to be washed, but it's wool, so I thought I'd take off the cotton case and wash it and let the wool air out. I sat on the front porch enjoying the sunshine and noises of spring.

multi-layered pillow

I used a seam ripper (one of the best inventions ever!) to take off the sewn cotton pillowcase, and discovered that the pillow wasn't all wool. There was just a very thin case of wool surrounding a bunch of polyester batting. What!!! All these years I thought they were special wool pillows. Oh well, now I can throw it out with feeling too bad, and use the thin layer of wool to add substance to my feather pillow.

such a lovely day

Watched a brown squirrel bounding across the yard. Heard a sandhill crane flying overhead and a woodpecker knocking on a tree. Pleasant way to relax.

While the dog and I were enjoying our time on the stoop, T was inside making dinner. Cobb salad. Yum! It hit the spot.

Unfortunately by the day's end I was stuffy and congested and had to retreat to my bedroom with a cup of tea and a box of tissues. And a book. The tv blares in the other room. Story of my life.
