The sucker punch

Just when you think things are going along swimmingly, something happens which acts like a slap in the face. A wake up call. A sorry sign that you are not in control, never were, and never will be.

The only thing I can control is me.

Woke up. Paid some bills. Dug out an exercise video (yes, an actual videocassette tape). Went for a walk. Built some Legos. Looked at my phone. Stayed home.

I watched a video of an interesting fellow who talked about the human body as a system rather than a series of parts to fix. He gave a cooking lesson (curry, one of my favorites!) and explained the attributes of each spice. For example, pepper is a digestive, anise is an anti-fungal and moderates menopause, cardamom supports respiratory function, turmeric is an anti-inflammatory and aids in liver function, cumin lowers cholesterol, coriander is an anti-microbial, etc. Really very interesting. I'm glad I wrote it down or I'd have forgotten everything except curry is good for you!

T made supper tonight and it was delicious! Steaks, fried potatoes and salad. He is really a good cook.

The day was above freezing, but overcast and windy. I went out for another walk in the evening and the air was thick with mist. It's strange that there aren't more people out walking in our neighborhood.

Day 7 of the wool& 100 Day challenge.

We watched a family movie this evening. An action film with a car chase, the good guy getting chased all over by the bad guys but ultimately triumphing. I guess I'm glad I watched it because it took my mind off "the slap."
