Tuesday in Holy Week

May God have mercy on us, and bless us:
may He cause the light of His countenance to shine upon us;
and may He have mercy on us.
But it behooves us to glory in the Cross
of our Lord Jesus Christ:
in Whom is our salvation, life, and resurrection;
by Whom we are saved and delivered.

H and T went to the hardware store and bought some supplies to fix the windows of buildings at the summer camp by the lake. Sadly, someone broke into several of the buildings sometime over the past few weeks, and new plywood, etc. needed to be purchased. It was the first time in three weeks that H went to town.

They also checked the post office, and the last two boxes I mailed from Anchorage arrived. Finally! So glad they got here! I also received my order from Shutterfly. I'd ordered some photo magnets to put on a metal door. They look great and are wonderful reminders of loved ones and happy times!

Day 10 of the 100 Day challenge

M collected his lunch at the schoolbus stop. He also enjoyed riding around on his wheeled motorized vehicle after he finished up the work I assigned him today. I kept busy doing laundry and...what else did I do today? Wrote a short note to my sister and included a couple of magnets. Watched the exercise video. Helped M with his schoolwork. Went for a walk with C. Made lunch. Made dinner (rechauffe so very easy!). Read a book. Texted with a friend.

My poor dog. M took him on a short walk, and awhile later I tried to take him on another walk but he could barely hobble up the hill. He's 10 years old, but only very recently has been acting decrepit.

The latest news is that the city and local tribe have asked the governor to close the fishery this season. They are worried about the influx of seasonal workers and fishermen and the potential for overwhelming our small local clinic. Their concerns are totally understandable. The cousin who worked briefly as a nurse in a Covid-19 ward in NYC posted a succinct but terrifying post on Facebook. A true wake up call. This is not a test, it is real.

I talked to an Alaska Airlines agent today and she said currently the airline is scheduled to start flights to our town on June 6th, but are working on plans to start earlier. Until then, travelers are chartering flights. Hopefully people are being smart about self-quarantining when they arrive here.

I'd planned a trip to France in early June, and, before this pandemic was recognized as such, I made a reservation with Airbnb. Sadly they won't cancel my reservation and refund my money even though I explained that there's no possible way I can get to France. Tough ---- was the response I received from them. I am disappointed. $350 down the drain. I will think twice about using them again.
