Walk til you drop

O God, Who dost gladden us by the merits and intercession of blessed George, Thy martyr;
mercifully grant that we,
who ask Thy blessings through him,
may obtain them by the gift of Thy grace.

 Day 26

Heading out for a walk.

Rained off and on all day. School in the morning. Managed to squeeze in some housework and laundry too. I'd wanted to put away Easter decorations and start cleaning out the box room, but my afternoon ended up being otherwise occupied.

I'd made plans with a co-worker, L, to go for a walk. Last time she came to my house, so today I drove to hers. We walked. And walked. And walked. She lives on a 2 1/2 mile long road, with a cluster of houses near hers, then quickly dwindling to none. Most of the land is either native allotment, tribal land, or state. Anyway, it's undeveloped except for this really well-built gravel road. We were having a nice, varied, interesting conversation. The rain was sporadic, and when it wasn't raining it was hot, probably in the high 40s. Finally I asked her when she wanted to turn around, and she said, "At the Manakotak trail," which we'd walked about a mile past! Ugh! Was I wrecked when I got back to my car! Didn't show it though as it's embarrassing to be so out of shape that I'm exhausted after a 5 mile walk.

I stopped at the store on the way home, after driving through insane frost heaves that stretched across the road. Just a muddy holey mess. Anyway, it'll be two weeks tomorrow since we went shopping so I had to stock up. Thankfully there were fresh fruits and veg, and lots of dairy. Surprisingly, not everyone was wearing masks. I felt like a dork with mine on. Especially as I passed a little old lady who wasn't wearing one.

 $190 in groceries

on sale! usually $10

Fresh salad and quiche for dinner. Yum! I forget how delicious a salad can be! Wish I could spend the entire summertime down south with fresh (and cheap!) tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, sweet corn...

H near our walkway

I like this picture, probably because of the bright jacket. It is H to a t. He and the lads took the dogs out for a walk - after they hauled the groceries inside!

Went for our usual walk with C. We've been walking pretty regularly since the start of The Virus turmoil, and I didn't want to break our walking streak.

I'd signed up for a pilgrimage in France at the end of May, a 60 mile walk from Paris to Chartres. I'd planned to start walking home from work and build up my stamina. It's a 5 mile walk with varied terrain. The pilgrimage has been cancelled as France is still on lockdown, but I probably should start walking for longer than the usual mile.

This is me after listening to the radio ALL DAY LONG! H refuses to turn it off, and I am going batty listening to non-news like what to do with your hair because all the salons are closed, and offended by fluff pieces on what a great service surrogate mothers provide. NPR = nasty propaganda rhetoric. Can we please just TURN IT OFF!!!
