Physical distance recital...remarkably enjoyable!

watermelon

H made waffles for brunch. I cut up the small round watermelon which was in the box of fruit from the school. Yum! The taste of summer!

There were some leftover tiles from last night's project, so I designed a different mosaic this morning. Making a house sign. Glued the tiles. Will finish both probably tomorrow. Or Monday.

A neighbor called to let us know that she had transplants from her hedge for us, so M drove me to her house and we picked them up. She'd put them in a bucket of water. Very kind.

I finished raking the east side yard. H had fixed the wheelbarrow so the job went very quickly.

T and M eventually came out and worked on rebuilding the garden wall. It took them (mostly T) about 3 hours. It looks really good. Amazing job!

I transplanted some of the ferns and columbine to the east side of the house and just below the back stairs. It's been hard to get plants to grow in those spots. H dug up some composted soil, so hopefully that will help them grow and establish themselves.

Ate a quick lunch about 3pm. I also scurried around the kitchen preparing more food for our cookout. In addition to the coleslaw I made last night, I made jello with pineapple (forgot to take out of the fridge), baked beans, and Israeli couscous mixed with sauteed veg.

Then I headed out to work in my new garden bed. I sifted through the clumps of dirt removing the wads of bachelor button root wads, and mixed in some composted soil. I also added a lower row of plastic edging to the back of the bed to keep the raspberries out.  Planted some clumps of wild geranium and columbine that I'd saved from the bed. Split 5 rhubarb plants and planted them, including one on the lower bed. Then tidied up and put the tools away.

Awesome job!

6pm already! Quickly got changed. Both T and M took showers, so that wasn't an option for me. Finished getting the food ready for our cookout. H grilled hotdogs. (M drove with T to our local shop earlier to buy hotdogs and buns as we didn't have enough of either.)

star performer!

M put on his performance in our arctic entry. He was nervous, but did pretty well. His audience sat out on the driveway (six feet apart from each other). He played about 6 songs. I love how he dressed for the recital!

We ate dinner outside. It got chilly enough for me to put on a sweatshirt. Our neighbors the Ds brought chocolate chip cookies and chocolate icecream, so we had quite a feast! It was wonderful to have guests over! I miss socializing!

C and I went out for a walk after dinner, then we visited some more. Their son came over after work for the meal, easier because dining was outside. Ds left about 9pm. I quickly put some straw (dried grass) on my new plantings. Hopefully they survive and grow!

Aside: The Virus arrived! Thank God that I was too busy today to look at social media. And start worrying. (Apparently the carrier had been in quarantine and was sent back to Anchorage before he could infect others.)
