Celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week

Up early and puttered around before taking a quick shower and heading to work. T dropped me off on his way to the office. The school was empty and quiet. About 20 minutes later the principal arrived and stopped in to say hello. There's a staff meeting scheduled for this morning but he gave me a reprieve.

While I was talking to him, my cell phone rang. It was T. I called him back and he said he was heading home. His supervisor thought it was approved to have both coordinators in the building but the bosses said nope. The Virus. Sending healthy workers home.

I started clearing off bookshelves behind my desk. I was less than halfway through when the painter showed up and started moving furniture, so I had to hustle. Back was sore from moving and lifting.

Talked to maintenance guy about moving a bookcase to Room 11. Huge thing, love it but no room anymore. The library will be so different when the makeover is complete!

The painter is a teacher who has had experience professionally painting. I thought he had an extra-duty contract, but no, he just wants to keep busy. Wow! He'll be sorely missed at the school. Awesome gym teacher and volunteers for everything. Anyway, he won't be finished with painting behind the desk until Wednesday. So no escaping to work for this girl!

Finished with what I could do by 10, and opted not to slink into the staff meeting. Called T to pick me up. Dropped off M's completed assignments at the M/HS. Went to the post office and there was another packet for him in the mail!

Made myself a fried egg sandwich for brunch, then retreated to my bedroom to rest. Pounding headache, probably from racing around ahead of the painter!

The public librarian disturbed my rest; she texted that the library got several large boxes of donated books. M and I went in to the territorial school to check them out. I took him because he needed to get away from the house. And he could lift heavy boxes!

Lots and lots of books. We went through lots of boxes (very random) and helped sort them. The SDA librarian and the public library aide were also there. We all wore masks, but were probably touching the same things. But all of us have been in town all winter, so....doubt any of us have been exposed to The Virus. We left with a box full for the school library.

teacher appreciation gift

Pleasant afternoon. T and M were sitting on the front porch and saw the director of culture and climate at the school drive by. Stop. Turn into our driveway. He had a box full of fresh food as a gift! How wonderful! The apples alone cost $30 here! Melons, avocados, pineapple, peppers, sausage...😄

Look how much the grass has grown!
Loop walk with C and the dogs.

All sorts of exciting smells

I wasn't very productive at home. Spent too much time scrolling through the offerings at The Paper Store website. Maybe it's because I'm feeling homesick. And travel there seems remote. Not that I could shop if I was there because the store's closed. But still!

making coleslaw

salmon tacos

T made fresh tortillas for dinner. What a tasty treat! Unbelievable difference in taste from the store bought ones. Incomparable!

City council met for 5 hour yesterday and didn't vote on anything, so continued the meeting to this evening. (Broadcast on the radio.) They voted to ban plastic grocery bags. Groan. And make everyone wear masks. I couldn't listen anymore.

This is a great idea!
