Community Clean-Up Day

Clean up at the schoolbus stop

Up at daybreak. H left the bedroom door open and the light streamed in. 6:15am on a Saturday. Groan.

I cleaned up my bedroom a bit more. Went through a couple of wooden fish boxes full of papers. Took time to add some entries into my "❤ keepers" notebook. It hasn't been updated in a while.

Washed and hung clothes. The laundry gets out of hand if I don't do a couple of loads on Saturdays. H will occasionally toss in a load, but the clothes come out wrinkled, so I prefer to do it myself.

T took it upon himself to thoroughly clean the floor. He vacuumed, moved furniture to clean under, scrubbed the floor, and took the rugs outside and beat them. The place looks fabulous!

M, in the meantime, was cleaning his room. He took the shelf unit that I'd moved from my bedroom, and moved things off the floor. It was a disaster area before, now it looks fantastic!

After lunch I took the city-provided yellow trash bag and rubber gloves, and wandered around the loop picking up trash alongside the road. Did a full loop to C's, then she joined me and we walked in the opposite direction on the opposite side of the road.  We were the only ones to clean up our neighborhood.

I was tired when I got home, but the dogs looked so pathetically sad that I immediately took them out for a walk. Didn't walk the entire loop, took a shortcut through the woods instead.

It starts out as a gravel path...

There are only a few patches of snow left. When I got back to the house, I raked the east side yard. No grass really, due to the takeover of H's strawberry plants (which never yield any fruit). It's a pain to rake in this area due to the runners getting caught in the tines. I did the best I could. Walk by it every day, and seeing a nice yard makes such a difference to morale.

It started to rain before I was finished with the area I was raking. By that time I was overheated. Went inside,  took a shower, and put on a summer dress. What a difference it makes!

T made spaghetti for dinner this evening. Delicious! Had a homemade wine cooler (wine & lemonade) which hit the spot on this warm day. Probably 50° but hot in the sun. It snowed in Boston today!

C and I walked again after dinner. I am really stiff and tired. Glad I went out, but more than ready to put my pjs on and snuggle in bed with a good book.
