Dum spiro spero. *

Have I not told you:
Be strong and stand firm?
Be fearless then, be confident,
for go where you will,
Yahweh your God is with you.
- Joshua 1:9

It's been one of those days that flew by and I wonder what all I did!

Still cleaning out my room. Moving things to/from my coat closet too. Shifting more than tossing. Hung up a picture I got at the work Christmas party (an Eskimo bingo prize). Good to get it out of my closet!

Spent about an hour pulling up rose runners and raking the west side yard. It's a clumpy mess. Still really soggy where the snow's melted, and frozen closer to the house. There's a berm of snow still, but it's melting quickly. No grass, just moss and ferns.

The fiddleheads might be out by next week. Fresh greens!  That will be a treat.

Read the missal and prayed the rosary outside. We prayed the Litany of the Saints, and then Psalm 69. One prayer particularly jumped out at me: "May they fall back covered with confusion who say to me: Ha, Ha!"

Fixed a recipe I found on the internet: crockpot chicken in milk with garlic cloves, lemon and a cinnamon stick. I added kale (shouldn't have!). It was ok. I also made brownies, which I haven't made in a long time. They were tasty.

Took a quick shower, then zoomed with my siblings for about 20 minutes. It's really an awkward time for a call, in the middle of the day. I had plans to walk with C, so I just checked in to say hello. A family friend from childhood was supposed to be at the meeting, but he hadn't logged on by the time I exited. C'est la vie.

Zooming with the family

C and I walked the neighborhood loop twice, then stood in her driveway and talked for another 20 minutes.

While we were standing there, one of the ladies in my book club drove by with her husband and stopped to say hello. She wants to zoom a meeting. We haven't met since February. Our March meeting was canceled due to The Virus. My Life in France, by Julia Child was the selection and we were going to make fancy French food.

Day 36

Before The Virus, the economy was booming and things looked rosy. I am so thankful that both my college graduates have jobs. So many unemployed now. The economy has tanked and will probably take a while to recover. O was talking about quitting his job in the summer, but he has a student loan to pay off. I suggested that he stay at the job until he pays off his loan and builds up a nest egg. Tough to be sensible.

Family movie in the evening: Raiders of the Lost Ark which was as horrible as I remember. Just yuck.

My dress is falling apart! The stitching on the waistband has come undone, and the elastic is unraveling. I emailed wool&. Too expensive for it to already be worn out!
