Knitting

Have mercy on me, O Lord,
for I have cried to Thee all the day;
for Thou, O Lord, art sweet and mild,
and plenteous in mercy
to all that call upon Thee.
Bow down Thine ear to me, O Lord,
and hear me;
for I am needy and poor.
- Psalm 85

My new hobby: knitting! We've had two kits sitting on our shelf for 15 years, from the era of  beaucoup school $. I might be able to make one, possibly two scarves. The yarn is lovely, but I'm awful at it!

Day 38

T said I look like I'm
trying to diffuse a bomb!

Made a mushroom and sausage omelet for brunch, then nagged the men to start the garden project. They started it, but barely. I want raised beds for our garden to keep the slugs at bay and save my back. I was thinking of a waist-high wooden structure, but H wants to build it out of rocks and concrete. Anyway, a few raspberry plants were dug up and replanted, but that's about it.

Karl-Heinz's garden
My dream

In the meantime, I transplanted some Siberian pea starts to the north garden border as well as in the west yard. Then I raked for awhile. Slowly, slowly I'm clearing up yard detritus.

Went for a walk with C about 2pm. She said rain was forecast for 4pm. It did rain on and off, but never steady until the late evening.

Called O. He was out mowing. He's planning a roadtrip to Wyoming with a friend and wants to know my travel plans. Er....none? I told him probably mid-June, but. I'm not eager. 2 week quarantine in Anchorage for out-of-state travel. Then another 2 week quarantine here.

Did I mention that I spoke with the priest yesterday? He called me to see if we're planning to go to the drive-through communion event on Sunday. Uh, no. Maybe he'll have Mass eventually. Now I remember why I want to travel.

Saw on Facebook that MIL added an additional TLM when it reopens on June 7th because of half-occupancy restrictions. Father says four Masses on Sundays, plus a Vigil Mass! If only!

Planted some herb seeds. It'd be nice if they grow! Reminds me that I should be harvesting chives from the garden. I also planted some radish seeds.

I had the misfortune to read a disturbing post on Facebook. Whoever wrote it created a new page just to complain about Dlg incognito. While I might agree with some of the points written in the post, the fake name and all out lambasting of the city was disturbing. And I saw it because a friend shared it, which casts him in a dim light. Bugged.

Keep calm and knit!

After reading The Switch, which I really enjoyed, I found another Joseph Finder book, The Fixer, on the online library. It is so boring. I'm halfway through it and it's painful to read. The protagonist is a creep, the crime is 20 years old, there's no suspense at all, and he writes as a local from Boston and fails miserably. I don't often shut a book half unread, but this one isn't worth my time.

Read an Agatha Christie which I hadn't seen before, Toward Zero. What a gifted writer she was! Even the books she seems to have breezed through are well-written and entertaining. Kind of like Dick Francis. It might not be high-brow literature, but you know it'll be a good story.
