A Day Spent Playing in the Dirt

tricolor scarf

Finally finished my 3rd scarf and used up all the yarn. Will I order more and crank out more scarves? Still on the fence. I enjoyed knitting but I don't have time for a new hobby, and I  definitely don't need any more scarves!

Called City Hall and left a message. Need more info about family coming out here to subsistence fish, and me and M going in to town for medical. Hopefully I'll hear back from them soon. Han said she's still planning to come out, as is Po. It'd be wonderful to have them here! We'll see what happens.

School with M. We focused on his Literature assignments and reviewed about seven chapters. Also, he finished his geography book! Great discussion about faith and how it's personal as well as public.

Headed into town to the old Curyung Building at noon so M could pick up his own lunches. Amount of food given out was halved from last week because so many families were picking up food. From there we went to Kanakanank Beach, where M finally got me to agree that he could drive on the beach. It's not the beach I'm worried about, it's that the ball-joints on the vehicle are about to go out. I visited with an elder for about an hour. Relaxing. Pleasant afternoon with a lovely breeze.

They really want that site!
Look at the sign.

Looking toward town

M dumped the rocks he collected for me next to the flower bed so I could finish my project. He also had enough to drop some next to the raised bed project. I think he enjoyed collecting the rocks; he definitely enjoyed driving on the beach!

Used the plastic edging from the flowerbed to define the raspberry patch in the front yard. We got some raspberry plants from our friends in Anchorage probably ten years ago. We planted them at the back of the garden, but they've been steadily moving closer to the road in search of the sun. Decided to make a defined bed so any stray shoots can be mowed down. It's time to reclaim the yard! Hopefully the edging will stop the raspberries from spreading.

a work in progress

Not sure how long that project took me. I'd been working on it for at least a half hour when T came home from work. Had to stop and make dinner (BLTs). Went out after dinner and worked on it some more. Then C came by and we walked the dogs around the loop. L-boy balked at having to walk past Cujo's house, but C coaxed him. Back working for another hour when H finally came home after 8:30. He helped me cut through the grass with a shovel, then went inside to eat. I worked for another hour until finally the bugs chased me inside. And I've edged as far as I can for now. The remainder will have to wait until the dirt pile is gone.

Took a shower. Stiff! My back is sore. I have a grass cut on a finger, and the ring finger on my right hand is swollen and it hurts to curl it. What's that all about? Hopefully a good night sleep will take care of all my aches and pains!
