Coffee!

It's finally here!

Stopped by the post office before work and spoke with the postmaster about the missing package of coffee. He said he'd research it. Called me several hours later to tell me he found it! Hiding in the cubbyhole in the back,  I guess. But - joy!

H headed up to the Lake this morning.  He got home late last night and was off this morning before 9. Kinda bugged about the whole thing, but he'll get a lot more done without a commute.

Upon entering the library, I was surprised to see the bookshelves already set up. Delighted! The maintenance guy is awesome! And they look good, very inviting.
Old shelves in new places.

I'm loving the new look!

Slow start. I couldn't sign in to the online book catalog. Eventually figured out that my keyboard wouldn't type an "h." Emailed tech but no response. Finally remembered the keyboard on the kids' computer,  so hooked that up. Big, clunky and awkward,  but it worked!

Finished going through book order. A couple of errors: ordered hardcover and received softcover, ordered two books twice, and got a tank manual instead of a kid's book. Brought them over to the business office to exchange.

Went through some series that were dated and hadn't been used in 15+ years. Changed call #s on some books. Chatted with crew chief about beachcombing. 4th grade teacher stopped in to say hello. Left with a pile of books on my desk still waiting....

Saw my friend Sherri in waiting in her car at the post office. She threw out her back last week so we haven't been walking. Hopefully next week!

Walked with C. At exactly the place we were attacked two weeks ago, a bike rider stopped to chat with us. The attack husky, aka Cujo, was right there at the fence, barking.  My dogs freaked out and went scurrying back toward home. We did stop on the corner to visit. I was asked my opinion on The Virus. I hate talking about it and thinking about it and stressing about it. But how can I express that? Shrug.

C recommended a site called zulily. Nice stuff and lots of deals, but don't like the return policy, and not ready to test the company's reliability.

Spent a while organizing a bush order with stuff for me, T and our neighbors. Scanned and emailed it, then called for a price but no answer. Hopefully I'll get a response tomorrow.

Got my ticket to Anchorage. Leaving on the 24th. Will have M fly in a week later and return together mid-July. He has the commitment to water the neighbors' garden which cuts his trip short. I love to travel, but I'm not excited about this trip.

Book Club meeting via zoom this evening. I didn't read the book, Ribbons of Scarlet. Written by several different authors (they each wrote a different chapter), I was reluctant to read it as I knew I'd be grumbling about the liberties taken with history. But I didn't want to skip the meeting as I really want the group to continue, so I thought I'd drop in and say hello. Ended up staying for the entire meeting, and was encouraged to persevere with reading the book as the fictional elements are addressed in the Authors' Notes. There were four of us at the meeting until a fifth member joined us 45 minutes late! And sad news with a member's husband suddenly ill and father passing away in the same week (no funeral because of The Virus).

We decided on the books to read for the next few meetings: 1984 by George Orwell in July, The Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline for August, and All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr for September's meeting.
