No Visitors This Summer
Keep your focus.
Read through city's website and The Virus-related ordinances. Forwarded informative ones and travel permit application to my nephew's wife. She told me on Monday that she was still planning to come out from Anchorage for a week. (She and her family have come out to subsistence fish for the past 5 years.) This year she was planning to scatter some of her husband's ashes out here. She got back to me later in the day with the disappointing news that they won't be coming out as Vyt's brother isn't going to make the trip to Alaska.
At this point I am going to keep my appointments at the end of the month. Whether I take M in with me then or have him fly in a few days later is up for debate. I'll probably have to stay in Anchorage for two weeks at the least, especially if surgery is scheduled. That means returning here mid-July at the earliest, then two weeks in quarantine. Time to make flight arrangements and car reservations!
I looked into driving into Denali National Park. The road is open on the weekend of July 10th and we could possible make a reservation if we're lucky. That would be awesome! Not sure if the little ones would enjoy it as it's a long drive, in addition to the drive from Anchorage. Still, awesome!
What a view!
Went out for a walk with coworker L. We stopped at Blueberry and walked down there. Fun to check out the side roads. I've lived here for 28 years and it's the first time I've been down some of them! We also walked down Black Spruce and Unicorn. Warm and buggy out.
H was still home when I got back from the walk about 11 o'clock. He was planting potatoes and doing a few other odds and ends. He's planning to stay up at the Lake for the next couple of weeks while the others are in quarantine. It'll save him commuting time, but it'll be hard not to have him here, especially on the weekends. The lads helped him a bit by putting up a fence, etc.
I headed into work about 12:30. Stopped by AC and picked up some free masks courtesy of the local tribal council. Also got a couple of groceries, but overcharged so I had to go back in and complain. Then I went to work. Happily I wasn't alone in the building! Summer painting crew (well, just the crew leader, happily a New Englander) was there preparing to paint the gym teacher's office. And the maintenance guy was there so I showed him some bookshelves I need moved and fastened to the wall. Happy! If nothing else was accomplished today, that meeting was key.
But I did manage to get quite a bit done. Except the computer program was offline, so I had to wait for tech to re-set it. In the meantime I prepped some books for new spine labels. And I went through (partially) some book orders received. Lots of work for me to do. I wrapped it up at 4:45, just enough time for me to get to the post office.
A yellow slip in the box! Alas, it was not coffee, but building plans for M. I asked the clerk (the same fellow I talked to the other day) and he said he would talk to the postmaster. Uh huh. Guess it's time to call the credit card company as the vendor has not answered my emails.
