Things Are Picking Up
Happiness is an organized bookshelf ❤
Wonderful day! Up early after a good night's rest, showered, coffeed, and at work by 9am. Kept busy the entire time, and everything went smoothly. New keyboard was waiting for me on my desk. Sorted through duplicates of books already in the system and organized the shelf of keepers. One shelf down, eight to go!
When I arrived I was confronted with an assortment of packages filling up the room. Loads more since Tuesday. Worked with books first to get them out of the way, then moved on to the boxes. Inventoried the new items. Getting excited for the transformation of the library into a kid-friendly space.
Oooh, what's inside?
The red chairs really pop
and the blue chairs are surprisingly comfortable.
Visited with the painting crew who are working in the gym. One said she got 30 kings and 15 reds from her setnet on Scandinavian Beach, and the other got 30 kings fishing Wood River. It's fishing season!
waiting for helpers
Finally wrapped it up about 4:15. Really wanted to finish all the new books, but knew the post office would be closed if I took the time to work on the last half dozen. I'd written several letters to send with magnets, some of pictures and others from DES. Bought some stamps at the post office. Flowers and gardens: happy stamps!
Stopped at the neighborhood store on my way home to pick up some fruit and veg as we're running low. The produce shelves were bare! Completely empty! Grabbed some dairy products before they ran out.
Visited with a fellow parishioner who was also shopping. She said she's been to both drive-by communions and gushed about them. Also said she watches a lot of EWTN, video Masses, etc. That I can't do, my stomach roils at the thought. Aversion to televised Masses because of Aunt Julia and Ma?
new culturally appropriate sign
I passed emergency vehicles gathered at a neighbor's house. Prayed. No clue what happened, but swarms of people.
I was ready to put my feet up for a few minutes before I started making dinner, but C texted and wanted to make some headbands for our zoom meeting tonight. The Alaska Run for Women is virtual this year, meaning that women can walk or run where they're at rather than gathering all together in Anchorage. We joined a team called Bristol Bay Bosom Buddies and our uniform is pink headgear and black shirts.
Took time to start dinner before I headed to her house. Soup from rechauffe. Put it on to simmer, and then headed to her house.
Cut up a t-shirt into strips.
Sewed them together.
Voila! A headband!
C was flustered because I was later than she'd anticipated and she was on a tight schedule. We rushed through and ended up cutting the strips too short, so had to sew an extension on them (which took more time). Measure twice before you cut! Still, they're cute!
Went home, ate dinner (delicious!) and cleaned up. M was testy about putting his things away. Can't understand leaving stuff all over the place. When I was a kid, everything personal was kept in the bedroom. Shoes, coats, toys, everything. Bedrooms could be messy but the shared family rooms were kept clean and clear. That is the way it should be. Of course, this house is about a quarter the size of the house I grew up in!
Zoomed at 8pm. Not a very organized meeting, but fun. 28+ women on our team but only 8 online. Those of us in town will run/walk on Saturday. Hopefully the weather will be conducive to a good turnout and a pleasant walk!

Disregarded my own advice and checked the Stumbling Block for news. Really shouldn't as it just keeps me up late reading about things I have no control over. I waver between keeping informed and too much info. Lately it's been too much and I need to scale back. Because seeing things like this makes the path slippery.
Really?
[Tried the new blogger. Difficult to use as figuring out the settings isn't intuitive for me. After writing a post, it wasn't saved and I had to re-write the entire thing. Frustrating! Reverted to the legacy blogger. Might use the updated version while in Anchorage with only my phone and make it more of a photo blog.]
