We Can Do It!

This girl is ready to go!

It was a dark and stormy morning. The wind was whipping the trees into a frenzy. Rain was lashing down sideways. The fearless Bristol Bay Bosom Buddies braved the elements to win the race.

Well, sort of!

It was a stormy morning, and out starting time was pushed back to 12:30ish. C and I decided to take two cars and park at either end of the Wood River bike path just in case we got caught in a storm we'd have a quick (-er) escape. Parked one car at the Willow Tree where we met up with a couple of teammates, Jojo and Iris.

Getting psyched for the walk!

They headed down Windmill Hill while C and I drove to Nelsons' and parked the other car there. That's where we started our five mile trek. Went in the direction of Wood River. Gorgeous views of the mountains in one direction and the Bay in the other.

Ready to start!

That's the river in the background!

We walked along the bike path toward the river. Breathtaking views! It was chilly to start, and the brisk wind kept the bugs at bay. We're not used to walking on pavement!

Met up with Debi and Lynn and started walking with them
back toward the main road.

Stopped for water at Lynn's.

The gang's all here!

Actually, there are 28 of us on the Bosom Buddies team. Because it's a "virtual" race, there is a window of a week's time to complete the five miles. Some team members already walked, some are planning to walk later in the week. It was fun to have a group of us! We all walked together for part of the race, then went our separate ways to complete our mileage.

Towards the end of the race, the sun came out and it became hot. Probably 50°! We were tired and tempted to stop once we got to Kanakanak Road, but persevered and walked the entire distance. Exhausted, but really happy!

We did it!!!

One of my teammates sold us this car 20 years ago!

It rained all morning,
was windy but sunny during the Alaska Women's Run
and then rained all evening.

A neighbor gave us a small king salmon.
Saving it for dinner tomorrow night.

Took a shower, then fell into bed:
